0.3 DevelopmentĀ Update

Hello.

It's been a while since we posted the last update. We are not going anywhere. We have been focused on the development of the new version. We worked hard to bring you one of the biggest updates in Akolyta's history.

Game Systems Migration

In the current version and before we have been using GameSDK as a base for all of our base systems. GameSDK is a sample project for CRYENGINE. It includes various systems. Many of them were created for Crysis and released for the development community by Crytek. But GameSDK includes a lot of systems not needed for single-player games - like networking. We have decided to remove GameSDK. We are switching to our own systems. We wanted to create a much smoother and more optimized system. This means we have to create all of the game systems from scratch. Player component, fall damage, footsteps sound system - along with surface type detection, AI component, and a lot more. We also want to replace some of the systems that are presently controlled via flowgraph - a visual scripting tool in CRYENGINE - with components created in C++.

Engine Improvements

Another segment that we want to improve is the engine code. We don't want to talk much about it because this is still early in development. We don't want to create expectations and then disappoint you. Nonetheless, we can tell you we are working on rendering improvements to bring you the best-looking game possible. As soon as we have anything to share we will make it public. Everything will be available for the public, including the new engine version. All of the components will be released both as a mod tool and for the wider development community. We are releasing what we can continuously for free on our Patreon.

Thank you for being with us. We hope to bring you more updates soon!
